About Me

I am a full- time mum of 2 under 4year olds! I have a 'little' obsession with makeup. I don't even have to wear it. I just like having it!

I'm a twenty somthing with a 'mild' obsession with makeup and clothes. Here you will be able to see my attempts to organise the Chaos of my erratic mind and condense it's contents onto these virtual pages of LUST LISTS....

Primark on Yo face!

As a sucker for packaging and a great price It's not difficult to believe I squeeled when I popped into Primark in Birmingham (which was NEXT DOOR to the hotel we were staying in at a recent gig the Boyf and I went to. Hello? Can anyone say Fate much? It was like a beacon of light lifted me in to a chorus of Angels 'La-ah-ah-ah') an saw they had a rather extensive makeuprange starting at £1!!!!!! OMG.
I was actually looking for a pair of earrings that my store never got in (I never did get them) but then I saw the most beautiful sight! I grabbed a basket a filled it with makeup. Total value of basket contents £11. WHAT!? yeah, I know! 11 quid!!!

You can clearly see where they have tried to rip off brands like Urbab Decay, Benefit and too faced with their packaging. The products shown aren't the only ones I've got from Primark by ANY MEANS. Just the ones I bought on that particular excursion. SO in the mix up we have;
-Brow powder and Wax duo -thumbs up
-Purple eye shadow -thumbs down
-liquid eyeliner-thumbs up
-bronzer and blusher duo-thumbs half up half down. (I have been spoiled in the rhealm of blusher so perhaps I would have liked it had I not)
-a gel eyeliner -DEFO THUMBS DOWN
and finally, last but by no means least there is the duo -highlighter and cheek gel- thumbs UP.
For more extensive reviews of particular products please let me know you want one. But for now I will just say that the gel eyeliner is basically just grease. It never sets, transfers even 5 hours after you put it on. BLINKING makes it smudge. it's just a mess in a pot waiting to happen on your face. don't go there! But for a ,easley £1 what can you expect?
The other item I have from other shopping trips I am much happier with and use quite frequently. They include mascaras, anothe eyeshadow, lip products, a primer, another blusher etc etc. I will post about these soon...

Makedo and Mend! WARNING VERY long blog post!

Noooo, that's not mine! I wish, oh how I wish I had a dressing table. It has been an ambition (I aim low, thus more chance of success, although apparantly not in this case ) of mine since I was a wee tot! But I haven't yet got one.

With two boys in tow somthing always comes up that uses the dressing table budget (or what would be if we had anything to save). And their needs are greater than mine (and my needs are great. I mean, has anyone noticed yet how obsessed with makeup I am?) So that speaks volumes as to how much children become your life. Seriously, That's Love!

And with all joking aside, It is seriously somthing I've been lusssssting after since before I could tie my own shoe laces (soo that's 17 then :P- nah I'm not that bad but it did take me a very long time to learn. I think I was about 6 or 7 before I finally grasped it! I actually learned division before the knot)

But Alas! It is somthing I don't posess. ( have I said that already?) And it pains me to inform you it will most likely be a very long time yet (and I'm talking years here people!) before I do! So I've had to make do with a temporary (permanant) set up in the form of shelves! And I've done quite well for myself I might add.

It provides the necessary storage for my ever expanding habit and it actually looks quite nice which I feel is equally important. (not as nice as a dressing table though but then as my mother reminded me not too long ago, She had to wait over 40 years to finally have one (I'm talking this year)-(brackets inside brackets?-that's a new one!) and so if she had to wait that long then so can I. )

Has anyone managed to not notice how many brackets I've used in this post so far? That's what happens when you attempt to blog whilst high on codine. I've actually only taken one but it's made me feel quite spinny and slightly merry! Which is better than weak and wobbly with the pain I was suffering earlier from having thrown my back out YET again! (having kids can cost you more than you might think! *shakes fist* But that's a tale for another time) See, there I go again...... off on a tangent. (Does the word 'tangent' make anyone else thing about triangles?)

GAH! I'd better get on with this post before someone arrests me for crimes against blogging in the mis-use of brackets category. Or worse, I bore people to death. The the charge might be involuntary manslaughter??? anyway, with out too much ado (shhhh-don't say anything about the ramble) I give you my POST (hurrah!... now somebody bind her fingers before she can ramble anymore...........)actually don't, she's got a blog post to type up yet. are you referring to yourself in the third person and now talking to yourself? Why yes., yes I am! *maniacle cackle* ahem, Here is my set up as of this moment;

So I have a chest of drawers which holds underwear, swimwear, nightwear, socks, tights, leggings, and sports (exercising) wear. You seriously didn't need to know that but I like to share. ;) Above it, I have a shelf from wilkinsons which cost about £3 and I thre away the ugly wooden brackets and bought fixtures for hanging baskets for a pound each an used those instea. Initially, I draped chain lights through these and the effect was lovely! But atm I have a scarf with bangles on as I have nowhere else to keep them. MOVING on......

Here is a close up of the centre of that shelf. I have an ornate butterfly on the wall, a patchwork camel, A photoframe of my first cat that I framed when I was 14 (I seriously need to update that picture) a blue mirrored candle, a fairy glitter waterglobe from PAST TIMES, a wooden jewellery box with my name on containing drop earrings, and a green pot that looks like a crown containing stretchy bangles..... Just out of view is a ring tree shaped like a hand holding, you guessed it, RINGS! *applause* "..and whadda we got for her Johnny?"

Here is a close up of that ring tree.

Next to the drawers I have a small book shelf with, Starting at the bottom; HAIRCARE;

In red box; Haircare products used most often.

Clear plastic tub shaped like paint tin containing hair elastics, sectioning clips and bobby pins. Small purple round pout containg safety pins and spare earring backs. (behind is a travel size pot of MARK HILL holliday hair straightening balm)

Next is a box I got in a shop under the empirestate building in NYC when I was 17. The shop was called 'STRAWBERRY. so I had to buy somthing from there because I'm also OBSESSED with strawberries! :) Anyway, Inside that box I keep alive bands, Those plaitted elastic head bands and my collection of floral elastic headbands. on top of that is an elpty Forrero Rocher containing pretty hair clips and facinators.

On the next shelf up (the middle shelf) we have; MAKEUP and skincare.
here we have that organiser tray from TK MAXX I've blogged about before which holds my most frequently used and current fave makeup. Nect to that is a box (I use the lids from perfime boxes by the way) containing my current skincare system. Toners, cotton pads, cotton buds, cleansers, moisturisers, face wipes, eyecreams, and lip balms.
I keep face washes and scrubs in the bathroom.

Next shelf up (top shelf) we have hand and nailcare and nail varnishes . Oh and a random massager. So In the tin lunch box that looks like a mini suitcase there are cotton socks, cotton gloves, and exfoliating gloves. The metal tin (from an easter egg) there are foot scrubs, foot lotions, hand lotions and nail polishes. A foot file, a scraper thing that I've forgotten the name of for getting rid of dead skin. In the pink box (It was a gift box my brother gave me a necklace in from clintons (the box not the necklace) years ago, which I kept because it was pretty. Shame I don't still have the necklace! I was about 10 though so my tastes have changed in my defense) I have all time fave nail polishes.
In the wicker basket (from a bath set bought in asda at christmas last year) there are my most frequently used and on trend nail polishes. In another Forero Rocher box I have nail files, cuticle creams and oils, clippers, nail scissors, cuticle trimmers, false nail trimmers etc. you know the kinda thing!On top of the box is acetone free nail polish remover and foot soak salts. And next to that, (nearly there) Body lotions and hand creams. (phew)

On top of the Bookcase I have another easter egg metal bucket thing *this time a princessy one because some one gave my BOYS a princessy one?) which contains different brushes and combs and a racoon stuffed toy that i saw and fell in love with in New Look. It's eyes are so CUTE!
I also have a bear. A lipstain from B nevertoobusytoobebeautiful. A body glitter, a fairy, a shimmer body lotion and spare cotton pads. Oh and the Box on the left contains my most favourite of all my products across skincare, haircare and makeup. Basically, my current products of obsession.

Then, Next to the bookshelf I have Makeup and perfume storage.
the two sets of drawers(stacked on top of eachother) were £4 each from wilkinsons and I just alternated toe pink and pruple drawers to make them look more unified. Then on top of those I have another cardboard (magazine box I think) box which was $4 from primark. (inside there I keep receipts and boxes of products. The beauty of having the larger box ontop of the drawers is that it gives me a larger surface area. On the box there are tow sets of mini drawers (£2 each from wilkinsons). In the mini drawers I keep things like false eyelashes, lash glue, eyedrops, and other odds and ends that are neccessary but don't look very nice and I don't want to get lost. Then in front (in this picture) is my perfume collection which has since been moved out of the sunlight. on top of the mini drawers are my makeup brushes and a small pot containing stud earrings. On the wall above this I have nails dotted around with my necklaces on them.
In the big drawers I have my make up. Goin down from the top I have, 1/foundations, primers, concealers and face powders. 2/blushers, bronzers and highlighters, 3/lip products, 4/eyeshadows (pressed) 5/loose eyeshadows. and 6/eyeliners (pencils, gel or otherwise, mascaras, and brow pwncils and brow powders.
There is a small gap at the bottom between the bookshelf and the drawers where the drawers are smaller than the box on top of them so it creates a little 'cubby hole' where I keep self tanners and SPFs. I also stash my personal hairdressing scissors here. ( I am not a hair stylist but I do like to experiment and have found I am quite goo at it. I do my family and sometimes my friends hair)

So here are the brushes.
In the forever friends mug which I've had since I was 12, I have face brushes (foundation, blush, bronzer and powder) and in the Blue box to the left, which was a box that had jewellery in it that I bought from PAST TIMES I have 2 other containers creating 3 sections. So in the farleft container which was a clear tealight holder with a heart on it from dotcomgiftshop, I havemostly eyebrushes. next to it is a small mosaic mirrored pot which originally came with 3 mosaic mirrored pens also from past times, I have favourite and most used brushes. In the space at the from are eyelash curlers, a pancil shaprener and some tweezers. Oh and a kabuki.
Omgosh. I am so sorry if I annoyed anyone reading this post. I know I'm a bit spinny atm but hopefully I explained why earlier on. I can't really remember. But If youread all of this you have got my respect. If I havn't bored you to tears that is ;)

I don't know about you but....

.....I love going swimming. In the summer months I love to get the paddling pool out in the back garden and have a splash about with my boys. They seem to find it twice as much fun if they get to splash mummy! And when we can I love to go swimming with the family. The local Lido is the best place to be with a stack of magazines, a picnic hamper and an ipod. BUT the one thing I hate?
The Getting dried and dressed afterwards! I can't stand it! But I've discovered a nifty little trick to help speed things up!
And it is; (drumroll please)
Johnson's baby oil gel.

It could be any baby oil, gel or otherwise really but the johnson's gel one is my favourite. I had a SIMPLE one before but I prefer the scent of this one.

Basically before I get into the water, I smother myself in this. And not only does it keep my skin moisturised and help pretect it from chlorine and other nasties in the water, it also means that when I get out, the water literally just ROLLS OFF ME! score!

If your paddling in the garden or at the lido it's best because then you can just dry off in your costume in about 5 minutes. So you can get back in the water later if you want with out getting changed in between or soaking a towel! I didn't even use a towel last time! When you've finished you swim session, you can hop in the shower, and smother yourself again while you're skin is still wet and then getting dried and dressed is so easy!
Plus your skin is soft and smells nice. Bonus!

Upcoming Birthday Haul?

Well, I had a fantabulous Birthday! My boyf did good! :) We had lights under the parasol of the patio set, then benches under a gazebo with lights and balloons on it, AND Blue voils hanging down like some kind of morrocan tent! The benches under the gazebo had LOADS of cushions and there were candles everywhere! It looked lush. Then He did the PERFECT BBQ. The first batch of purgers did look like little lumps of coal, but after that everything cooked perfectly. It was amazing! All my friends turned up and the merryment began. The Boyf made a playlist on the ipod of party music and all my fave songs-even the ones he doesn't like (aww) and there was bunting (tee hee), giant straws, cocktail glasses, oh, and he got me a CAKE with a candle that played a happy birthday tune...ahhhhh! I'm so lucky. yes, I suppose I am gushing a bit, but it was so chuffed he's gone to so much effort. After 9 years together (5 living together) he's still pulling out all the stops. I was BEAMING all night. My brother said 'that's a pretty dress...I'm going to spoil your figure for it now...' and then he produced the biggest bx of thorntons chocolate I have ever seen!! (I've nearly eaten them all already though).
The Birthday dress I wore I found in H&M a couple of days before and I fell in love with it, but I coudn't decide between that one and another one so my boyf said, 'I get you one now if you want so you can wear it on your bday. I always get you a present early anyway'. I was really quite torn between the one I ended up with and the other one, and I went back in the next day to see if they still had it to get it as well because it was only £25 and it looked like somthing from Lipsy... but they were all gone :(
On my birthday morning he and my eldest woke me up with a couple of cans sof silly string!! The He brought me breakfast in bed and a pile of presents... the first one I opened? THE OTHER DRESS! :) and omg.... he got the right size? he was obviouslt paying more attention than I thought!
One of my other presents is HILARIOUS and I can't put it down, but think I'll save that for when I post my birthday haul....now the question is, do I post pics on here or do I post a youtube video? hmmm.... or BOTH?

Friday 4 June 2010

It's very almost nearly completely my birthday...

.....and I'm so excited eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I will go to bed tonight a mere 23 year old and wake up tomorrow a 24 year old. Which doesn't actually seem very old to me at all (probably because It's not!)
We are having a Boozy BBQ with friends and I can't wait. Having 2 childeren, I sometimes feel a bit frumpy when i am with them and a bit out of the loop. There is much catchy uppy-ness to be had.
In the morning/afternoon we are having family time then the boys will be with their grandmother for the BBQ so we can be off parent duty and have a relaxing worry-free time!
Also, I love getting all dressed up and girlie so I can't wait to do that either.
I havn't felt this excited about a birthday for almost 10years!! I don'y know why I'm feeling so excited this time.... ah well. Nothing to complain about. life is so good. I have a wonderful boyfriend who I've been together with since we were 15. 2 Beautiful healthy happy boys. A lovely house. great friends and of course my parents and brother and the reast of my family!Sometimes I feel like we've done so much so young. Other times I feel like we're just beginning. All I know is, I wouldn't rather be doing anything else, be with anyone else, or be anywhere else!
Sorry to be so sickly guys. I suppose I'm just feeling in a very content and grateful/reflective and philosophic mood? Anyhoo..... :D xxx

Barbra Daly For Tesco

My Top 3 favourite products at the moment are all from Tesco's own range. Yes I am talking about the supermarket. They had their own brand range of makeup designed and created by the Famous makeup artist Barbra Daly.
Prices are on a par with most drug store brands including Revlon, GOSH and Bourjois. The packaging is slightly more grown up and more in line with somthing from clinique. But the Quality is FANTASTIC! I can't Rave enough about these products. It's a good job there isn't a Tesco near me or i would be permanantly Broke!
My Product of the moment is this Glow Up. Anyone who watches my video on youtube will have seen me use this and spout off about it before. The formula is such that it blends into your already applied foundation rather than sitting on top of it of 'lifting it up' and going patchy and streaky. It looks completely natural for a truly lit from with in glow. I LOVE it... luff luff luff luff luff.... <3 <3

Second there is this easy-on-the-eye eyeshadow pen, in the shade calico.
With its built in brush making it ideal for travel, this glides on like a dream. Lasts ALL day (and night), is the perfect blendable consistancy, feels smoothe and light, Forms a perfect base for any eyeshadow, Is gorgeous to wear on it's own and. Can even be worn as a highlighter...need I go on?

And finally, fave number 3 is the cream foundation. Mine is in the shade Ivory. The colour selection was not that extensive in the Tesco I bought this one from but perhaps larger stores have a larger range? I'm not too sure, but this shade is the PERFECT colour match to my skin tone.
What I dearly love the most about this foundation, apart from its superior blendabilitty, is the fact that is part-sets. This means that whilst I have planty of time to blend my foundation, I also don't need to powder. Because it doesn't set completely, I can blend away mistakes from fall out etc, But because it part sets i don't have to worry about it sliding off my face whn I'm going for a dewy un-powdered look. It feels like NOTHING is on your face and it also Looks like it's your skin. You CANNOT SEE it on your face despite the fact it has amazing coverage.
GO AND GET ONE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

Other picks from the BD range include;

liquid eyeliner in a purpley-gre colour. The colour name is worn offas this one is a few years old now but it's still available. I like it becaue i sometimes find black is too harsh during the day, and I get bored of brown. So this makes a nice change for a more soft look. Plus I have green eyes so the purpley tomes in this really makes them 'pop'. I hate saying that, I always get mental images of my eye ball exploding. :/

Lipstick in the colour 'innocent'

Gloss over for use on eyes, lips and cheeks.
